This article is devoted to the study of the relationship between character accentuation and psychological stress. Based on the theoretical analysis of the works of K. Leonhard, A.E. Lichko, H. Selye, R. Lazarus and modern research, the mechanisms of the influence of typological personality traits on the perception, experience and overcoming of stressful situations are considered. Specific patterns of stress reactions characteristic of various types of accentuation, as well as the use of psychological defense mechanisms, have been identified.
