Abstract

This article examines politeness, solidarity and social relations in English and Karakalpak ritual discourse. It focuses on wedding congratulations, blessings and funeral condolences, exploring how these expressions communicate respect, emotional support and social belonging. It also considers the implications of pragmatic differences for translation and language teaching.
