This article analyzes the possibilities of using artificial intelligence technologies in modern education and their role in improving the professional skills of Uzbek language teachers. The rapid development of digital technologies requires teachers not only to possess strong subject knowledge but also to develop digital competence, critical information evaluation skills, modern pedagogical approaches, and the ability to use artificial intelligence tools appropriately for educational purposes. The article examines the potential of artificial intelligence in lesson planning, development of educational materials, creation of exercises, text analysis, individualized learning, assessment, and teachers’ continuous professional development. Particular attention is paid to academic integrity, reliability of AI-generated information, data privacy, independent professional decision-making, and the priority of human agency. The article proposes key directions for developing AI competencies among Uzbek language teachers.
