Maqolada adabiy obzor (literary review) tushunchasining jahon ilmiy tafakkuridagi o‘rni, shakllanish bosqichlari va nazariy-metodologik asoslari yoritilgan. G‘arb adabiyotshunosligida XVIII asrdan boshlab rivojlangan bu janrning tahliliy, nazariy va metodologik yo‘nalishlari tahlil qilinadi.
Shuningdek, adabiy obzorning ilmiy tadqiqotdagi funksiyasi — mavjud manbalarni tanqidiy o‘rganish, nazariy asos yaratish va yangi ilmiy g‘oyalar uchun konseptual poydevor tayyorlash jarayoni sifatida izohlanadi. Maqolada “The Monthly Review”, “The Critical Review”, “Modern Language Review”, “PMLA” kabi nashrlarda shakllangan obzor an’analari misolida janrning ilmiy tafakkurdagi ahamiyati ko‘rsatilgan. Xulosa sifatida adabiy obzor jahon adabiyotshunosligida ilmiy fikrni rivojlantiruvchi, tahlilni chuqurlashtiruvchi va metodologik izchillikni ta’minlovchi asosiy mexanizm sifatida talqin etiladi

В статье рассматривается понятие литературного обзора (literary review), его место в мировой научной мысли, этапы формирования и теоретико-методологические основы. Анализируются аналитическое, теоретическое и методологическое направления жанра, развивавшегося в западном литературоведении с XVIII века. Особое внимание уделено функции литературного обзора в научном исследовании — критическому изучению источников, формированию теоретической базы и созданию концептуального фундамента для новых научных идей. На примере журналов “The Monthly Review”, “The Critical Review”, “Modern Language Review”, “PMLA” показано значение жанра в развитии научного мышления. В заключение литературный обзор трактуется как основной механизм, обеспечивающий развитие научной мысли, углубление анализа и методологическую последовательность в мировой литературоведческой практике

The article examines the concept of the literary review and its role in global scholarly thought, outlining its stages of development and theoretical-methodological foundations. The analytical, theoretical, and methodological dimensions of the genre, which emerged in Western literary studies in the eighteenth century, are analyzed. The study highlights the function of the literary review as a critical examination of sources, the establishment of a theoretical basis, and the creation of a conceptual foundation for new scientific ideas. Using journals such as “The Monthly Review”, “The Critical Review”, “Modern Language Review” and “PMLA” as examples, the article demonstrates the genre’s significance in shaping scholarly reasoning. In conclusion, the literary review is interpreted as a key mechanism that fosters the development of scientific thought, deepens analytical practice, and ensures methodological consistency in world literary scholarship
