Abstract

The article develops design principles for professionally oriented speaking tasks in an AI dialogue environment for university students. It uses a focused analysis of task-based language teaching and computer-assisted language learning research, pedagogical modelling, and the construction of observable assessment indicators. Seven principles are specified: a meaningful professional outcome, an information gap and learner choice, contingent dialogue, calibrated support, bounded AI responses, assessment of the communicative product, and reflection with transfer. A prospective teacher-training task illustrates their application to interaction with a virtual pupil. The paper is theoretical and methodological and makes no claim of experimentally established effectiveness.
